Meet Megan, A girl with some cool curves and curls
Fashom: What do you do for a living?
Megan: I am a full-time graphic designer, started as an intern at 16 and have been at my job since! I started blogging and modeling about 3 years ago.
Fashom: What’s your general sense of style / fashion like? Do you stick to a particular kind of dressing – either feminine or masculine or do you experiment with both?
Megan: I love switching up my looks! In one day I can go from something super girly like a full tulle skirt and the next something like sneakers and a snapback. With more companies offering plus size clothing it is fun to experiment and try out new looks.
Fashom : How do you deal with criticism from others?
Megan: I learned a long time ago that people are going to judge you no matter what you weigh, what you are wearing or how you look, but I also learned that other people’s opinions have no effect on my actual life. I surround myself with positive, uplifting people. I also don’t tolerate any kind of negativity on my social media. I started Curves, Curls, and Clothes to be a positive influence on other plus size girls, so negative vibes are not allowed. I don’t engage with trolls trying to get a rise out of me. I delete, block and keep it moving.
Fashom : What was the best advice you ever received about being true to yourself?
Megan: I would say my parents always gave me the best advice. They told me I was wonderful and beautiful just exactly the way I am and that I didn’t need to change to fit into anyone’s standards. They taught me that the people that really care about me will never try to change me and will love me no matter what.
Fashom : Any message you would like to send out to the world?
Megan : You are more … more than a name, more than a pretty face, more than an imperfect body. You have a story to tell and a life to live. We together have to stop seeing other women and ourselves as objects to be desired and instead as lessons to learn and chances to grow from one another. We can love, inspire, encourage and build up instead of comparing and competing. Let’s learn how to admire the beauty in others without questioning our own.
Oh, and wear WHATEVER the hell you want to! If you feel good in it… ROCK IT!
