Hope all of you had a great weekend! Last week a body-positive blogger Megan Jayne Crabbe posted a side-by-side photo on Instagram. Unlike a normal side-by-side photo, which should highlight the improvements of someone’s lost weight or firm abs, the photo shows that she gained weight over the past two and a half years and she were proud of it.
Over the past two and a half years, Crabbe regained her self-love and mental freedom without feeling ashamed of this transformation. According to her caption, she would no longer hurt herself in the pursuit of a “perfect” body shape. Instead, she became more body-positive and called for destroying the idea that keeping thinner will lead to happiness.
Crabbe’s post is a great inspiration, so for Fashom stars, you don’t need to feel ashamed and guilty when you gain weight. Accept who you are and how is your body like. Keeping a fitness goal is not a bad thing, but fitness goal should not equal to happiness and personal worth. As Crabbe says, “mental health matters more than a dress size does.”
