Hi Fashom world,
Have you ever thought that your daughter would hear you when you are complaining your body? This is what Real Simple tells us in the video. In the video, young girls say something like “I could never wear a dress without Spanx.” and “My nose looks so ugly.” Obviously, these girls heard what their mothers complained about their bodies and learnt it. They are still too young to worry about their Spanx and noses shape now, but hearing their moms or sisters complaining all day, they would easily grow up with negative attitude towards their bodies.
It’s also shown in the video that girls who think their moms dislike their bodies are more likely to be dissatisfied with their own. As moms and sisters, we always want to protect our young daughters and little sisters from negative body images and eating disorder. It’s more important to behave as a good model for them, instead of just saying plain words. It’s always easier said than done, but we have to stop criticizing so much on our bodies. Only after we begin to love our bodies and stay positive then can the positive concept pass to younger generation.
Being beautiful is on you, not on others. Just like those girls want their moms to know: “They’re beautiful inside and out, it doesn’t matter what you look like.”
We are on fashom, celebrating the real you.
